The Artist's Diary series is a pictorial narrative that addresses the fragile balance an individual tries to establish between oppression and freedom, at the intersection of personal and collective experiences. Using an auto-ethnographic approach, the artist makes visible the internal conflicts and social limitations that shape the perception of self through an intuitive and layered language. This production process opens up a discussion on the same grounds: the individual’s desire for self-expression and the mechanisms of oppression that stand in the way of this desire. The watercolors used in the series point to the fragile and ephemeral nature of production, while the text installations created with pla filament point to the material equivalent of the words that leave a mark on memory. This series, which juxtaposes the external controls the artist encounters when she moves towards places she believes she belongs with the states of internal resistance, makes visible the psychological and political burdens carried by the everyday.
