EXHIBITION: Kethuda Bath-Butterfly Effect

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT

Ortaköy Kethuda Hamam Exhibition Hall

March 21-25, 2024

The group exhibition titled “The Butterfly Effect” meets art enthusiasts with the aim of supporting the devastation caused by the earthquake disaster that occurred on February 6, 2023, through art. The exhibition was created by the collection of works donated by artists from our country to contribute to Hatay, Kuzeytepe, Örnek Evler Life Village. The event is organized with the contributions of Zülal Çakıcı, Hamide Göksan, Tarık Hotamışlıgil, and Haldun Dostoğlu, with the support of the Art for Good Association. The initiative of interior architect Zülal Çakıcı, who asked herself, “What can I do for the earthquake zone?” right after the earthquake disaster, and the Örnek Evler Life Village project, which came to life with the gathering of over 4,000 volunteers and hundreds of brands at the Tüyap Fair Center, has been an important beacon of hope. Led by Zülal Çakıcı, Hamide Göksan, and their team, this special living village located in Antakya/Hatay on a 66-acre land filled an entirely empty area with hundreds of people, homes, trees, and hope with 100 tiny houses. Örnek Evler Life Village has been hosting earthquake-affected families since October 22, 2023, with its social areas, providing them with rehabilitation opportunities. Organized by Tarık Hotamışlıgil, with the contributions of the Art for Good Association, the “Butterfly Effect” exhibition aims to provide artistic solutions to these needs and to reach a wider audience, highlighting the butterfly effect of the Örnek Evler Life Village in Hatay and drawing attention to the purpose of this volunteer project, encouraging society to be sensitive to this special initiative. The exhibition, which takes place with the participation of many valuable artists, aims to highlight the healing and unifying power of art.

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT

Ortaköy Kethuda Hamam Exhibition Hall

March 21-25, 2024

The Art for Good Association harnesses the power of art to heal the wounds of the earthquake-affected regions and to foster social solidarity. With our “Impressions from Anatolia” project, we brought together our artists with those living in the areas shaken by the February 6 earthquake. Working together, we utilized the healing power of art to address the pains and wounds caused by the earthquake. Following the implementation of our “Women and Children Friendly” project in the region, we have now become supporters of the “Örnek Evler” project located in Hatay. As a result of this solidarity, in our exhibition titled “The Butterfly Effect,” we present the impressions and artworks of our artists from the earthquake zone. This exhibition reflects not only the destructive effects of a natural disaster but also the resilience, hope, and motivation to act together of humanity.

In our exhibition, alongside the artists from “Impressions from Anatolia,” we also feature works by young artists from the earthquake zone. Each artwork reflects the experiences, emotions, and hopes of the communities affected by the earthquake. The exhibition takes viewers on an emotional journey, bringing them together and highlighting the importance of social solidarity.
