Başak Çolak was born in Ankara in 1994. She completed her undergraduate studies in English Language and Literature at Hacettepe University in 2018. She worked in the field of language, including translation, content editing, and teaching. Simultaneously, she began participating in various exhibitions and freelance projects. To fully focus on her artistic production and visual arts, she moved to Bodrum. She completed her undergraduate studies in Painting at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Bodrum Faculty of Fine Arts in 2024, graduating as the top student in her faculty. In addition to painting, she has expanded her artistic practices to include installation, photography, and writing. She has participated in group exhibitions, competitions, and residency programs in various cities across Turkey. In 2024, she was included in the BASE What Does Art Do? selection. She was selected as one of the 27 artists for the Akbank 43rd Contemporary Artists Award Exhibition (2025). In 2026, she received an exhibition award at the 11th Contemporary Art Project Competition exhibition held at the Ankara Museum of Painting and Sculpture, and also at the 102nd Anniversary of the Republic of Turkey Painting Competition held in Mersin. Çolak continues her postgraduate studies and artistic production in Bodrum.
