DESCRIPTION

Born in Ankara in 1999. Received painting education at Ankara Fine Arts High School. Between 2021-2022, she studied at the École supérieure d'art d'Aix-en-Provence Félix Ciccolini in France. In 2023, she graduated from the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. She is among the 5th term artists of the "A Year in the Passage" project of the Art for Goodness Association. For about two years, she has been leading the workshops called "Passport Photo Intervention" and "Photo Intervention". She works as a stage painter at the Ankara State Opera and Ballet. She continues her production in her studio in Ankara. In her works, she produces in a symbolist-expressionist style, blending different techniques such as oil paint, acrylic paint, watercolor, photo intervention, digital collage, video manipulation and installation with her intuition. In her creative practice, the body, identity, and the individual's self-perception, which she considers to be in a constant state of transformation, are the main focus of her works. Drawing on her personal experiences, she creates narratives through self-portraits, exploring themes of grief, fragility, memory, various power dynamics, and the human condition, thus investigating the possibilities of individual liberation and achieving pure selfhood.

Through her self-portraits, she explores the power dynamics within the individual using the metaphor of the puppet and the puppeteer, creating a narrative of liberation. These metaphors reflect the fluctuating relationship between authority and obedience, where the individual is both a controlling and controlled being. Sometimes the puppet's strings are in the individual's hands, and sometimes they are controlled by someone else. In this ambiguous space, a stage is constructed for the individual to redefine their own authority and seek possibilities for liberation. The works, constructed with a symbolic and sometimes expressive style, invite the viewer to reflect on the concepts of power, control, and freedom.

"Puppet Theatre" aims to create a space where authority is malleable and freedom can be redefined.
