About The Work
Layered textures, color and paint densities, surfaces where the power of motion is sensed, and all this, along with the clear inward gaze of ambiguous faces. The faces that are watched and watched from far away within this whole pluralistic structure. In Gülveli Kaya's artistic practice, the multidimensional plastic approach between figures and paint is followed Decently on the canvas surface in a splendor of texture. The multidimensional textures that are clearly located on the surface of the canvas reveal the hegemony of plastic language. On the surface, the figure is always located in the center. All other important compositional elements are both behind, under, inside and around the figure. These different multi-layered textures, which are stacked on the surface as composition elements, have a multidimensional surface and depth relationship with the figure. The “face” between these richly textured layers is like a time tunnel connecting all these surfaces that try to put different distances to each other, but stand on the same plane Decoupled from each other. It passes through all surfaces. Wallpaper images, which dominate as a motif and texture in his paintings, are the carrier of the whole composition as a concept.
