About The Work

Considering the artificial nature landscapes produced by man as one of the main subjects of his brush, Rivet expresses the influence of man on nature by interpreting the old and new construction forms. While integrating his Decadent sculptures with nature, he uses imaginary and real images together. In his series about abandoned places, he draws attention to social and environmental issues and emphasizes that it is not only nature itself that is lost, but the future of man.

About The Artist

Born in Ankara in 1979, the artist graduated from Mimar Sinan University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting in 2002.

Drawing attention to social and environmental issues in her works, Burcu Rivet emphasizes that what is lost is not only nature itself, but the future of man in her series ranging from abandoned factory structures to marble January. Creating his visual narratives through an aesthetic language unique to him, Rivet sheds light on themes such as unemployment and absence created by globalization in the industrial order, as well as more personal areas where an individual becomes lonely. In addition to painting, the artist expresses himself through the disciplines of sculpture and photography. Photo-collage, the works in which he intervenes with oil paint on photography, the relief works he creates from natural stones and the sculptures in which he references antiquity show a strong parallel with his paintings.
