Kardelen Erken was born in Istanbul in 1997. She completed her education at Avni Akyol Fine Arts High School - Painting Department in 2015. She started her undergraduate education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Painting Department in 2017. After completing her undergraduate education, she entered the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Master's Program in 2023. In 2023, she was entitled to be a 5th Term artist of ‘1 Year in the Passage’. The artist depicts the transient nature of the moment, based on her childhood memories and visual images. In this visual world where lines, textures and layers are intertwined, she brings the viewer together with the quiet moments of nature. The communication between lines and colors makes one feel the simplicity and complexity of the fields at the same time. Inspired by the walks she takes among the hay fields and the calm and serene atmosphere of nature, she invites the viewer to this act of walking in her paintings. In his works, gestural brush strokes and dense layers of paint emphasize the transience of the atmosphere and the moment at first glance, while the grasses and natural elements that stand out in the foreground stand out as images that remain in the memory. The artist's works emphasize the freedom of childhood and the deep connection established with the earth.
