DESCRIPTION

Nida Erdoğan was born in Istanbul in 1999. Nida, whose interest in art dates back to her childhood, completed her undergraduate education at Namık Kemal University, Department of Painting between 2017 and 2021. She combines the technical knowledge she gained through her classical art education with contemporary art practices in her current postgraduate program at Yıldız Technical University, Institute of Art and Design.

Art is a kind of psychological archaeology that carries the individual's inner conflicts to a universal stage. The artist's bird phobia and knot form, which sprouted from her childhood trauma,

are not only the deciphering of a personal memory, but also a map of the collective unconscious of man. Here, the knots bear the traces of a social pathology: The unresolved traumas of societies are knotted in the neural networks of individuals and crystallized in bodies.

This installation bears the traces of a calm chaos. Each knot is not a curve of an unsolvable problem; it is a curve of an existence that does not need to be solved. It is neither disorderly nor completely

orderly. Every form is born by twisting from a silence; it winds around itself,

existing without seeking a center. The knot form, which is centered in the artist's production,

appears in this work as the scream of trauma; it is no longer the echo of that scream spreading over time and

permeating the body. These folds, which resemble the internal architecture of the body, are neither completely inside nor

outside. Inside and outside, remembering and forgetting, self and other are intertwined here.

“Being”

represents a presence, not an orientation. These forms neither advance nor regress; they simply continue to exist. They continue in an undefined

but familiar form that is not fixed but does not disperse. This installation is neither a beginning nor an end; it is becoming itself.

The knot neither reaches a conclusion nor desires a resolution. Its movement is slow,

it continues by twisting; just like a thought that has left a mark on the memory changes form over time.

Here, the form becomes a situation rather than a narrative: A calm chaos. And in this chaos, there is only one thing—being.
