Some experiences transcend the limited structures of language and seek a way of existence for themselves in non-linguistic ways. Words are insufficient to bear the weight of destruction and loss. These pictures, created with paint stains, torn newspaper pieces and pencil marks, aim to make visible the traces of neglect, inequality and injustice that lie behind the disaster. The aesthetics of destruction questions not only the physical reflections of a disaster, but also the political and social context of that disaster. Each trail seeks ways to imagine a future based on justice and solidarity, while trying to make visible the responsibilities that lie behind the destruction.
