We are visiting artist Mustafa Duymaz at our 514th Art Meeting.
Born in Van in 1972, Mustafa Duymaz graduated from Gazi University Fine Arts Education Painting Department in 1999 and completed his postgraduate education at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the same university. Drawing attention with his productions in different disciplines with his critical (sociology, psychology, cultural, socioeconomic, ecological) approach he developed on constructions and structures based on the transformation of cities, the artist mainly uses concrete gray and artificial bright colors of construction machines in his paintings. With this unique language, he presents a strong and impressive visual narrative about today's urban life.
Duymaz, who is actively involved in the art scene, is one of the founders of Yaygara Contemporary Art Initiative. He received awards from the Gazi University Painting Competition in 1999, the Nuri İyem Painting Competition in 2008, and the 33rd DYO Painting Competition in 2009; In 2017, he was selected as the “Artist of the Year Worth Praising” by the Art Institution.
The artist, who participated in mixed events abroad in France, Germany and Moldova, “Mythologies” held as part of the 3rd Mardin Biennial in 2015, and “Healing” at the Commagene Biennial in 2024, also stands out with his many mixed and solo exhibitions.
