In our 468th art meeting, we visit İzzet Keribar, Photography Artist. İzzet Keribar was born in Istanbul in 1936. He graduated from Saint Michel French High School in 1953. In 1957, he went to South Korea for military service. He developed his style by taking photographs in the Turkish Brigade during his time in Korea. Awarded many prestigious prizes, Keribar's awards include second place in the National Geographic Traveler, first place in the Fuji European Press Awards on different occasions, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Grand Art Award in 2011. İzzet Keribar was also awarded the titles of A.Fiap (Artist) in 1985 and E.Fiap (Excellency) in 1988 by the International Federation of Photography. He was also awarded the Legion d'Honneur (Knighthood for Academic Achievements) by the French Ministry of Culture.
İzzet Keribar started photography in 1952 with a camera he bought by saving his weekly savings. The artist, who first worked in black and white, was nourished by the historical districts and places of Istanbul. Since 1982, Keribar has organized numerous photography exhibitions and dia shows in Turkey and abroad. Participating in the juries of national and international photography competitions, the artist continues to produce works in different forms and contents.
