A FIRST IN TURKEY: ART IN THE GOLF LANDSCAPE – BODRUM GOLF CLUB
With *Sculpture Journey*, Bodrum Golf Club brings together the distinctive rhythm of golf and the intellectual and aesthetic realm of contemporary art. For the first time in Turkey, a golf club landscape has transcended its role as a playing field to become an open-air exhibition space where contemporary sculpture can be experienced. Distributed across the course, the sculptures establish a constantly shifting relationship with nature, light, architecture, and the game itself. Thus, the artwork ceases to be merely a static object confronting the golfer; instead, it becomes an integral part of the walk, the game, and the personal experience of the space. This approach reflects Bodrum Golf Club’s vision of expanding its club culture into the spheres of art and culture.
SCULPTURE JOURNEY: THE CONTINUITY OF ARTISTIC PRODUCTION
Beyond being a public space exhibition that brings together the works of two artists, Sculpture Journey is part of an approach that fosters the continuity of sculptural practice and paves the way for new creations. Driven by this vision, the project’s social impact component—developed in collaboration with the Art for Good Association (İyilik İçin Sanat Derneği)—aims to support young artists in their creative processes and connect them with new opportunities for production. In doing so, Sculpture Journey transcends the temporal limits of the exhibition to invest in the act of creation itself, embodying—beyond the exhibition format—a concept of continuity that extends into the future of the art of sculpture.
