452.We are visiting the Venice Biennale in our art meeting. 60. April November 20-November 24, 2024 International Art Exhibition is being held Dec. 20th to 24th, 2024. Adriano Pedrosa, the São Paulo-based curator, says that this edition will be more current than ever and will touch on economic and sociopolitical issues through the figure of straniero (foreigner or outsider).
Pedrosa says that this idea of a marginal audience is connected with queer artists, who are often persecuted or declared illegal, as well as with outsider artists, autodidacts and indigenous creators, who are “often treated as foreigners in their own land”.
Pedrosa emphasizes that the Biennale will focus Decently on artists who move between the Global South and the Global North. Pedrosa is the first Latin American to curate the Venice Biennale and the first curator from the Southern hemisphere.
