At the 439th Art Meeting, we visit artist Meliha Sözeri. Born in 1982 in Antalya, Meliha Sözeri completed her undergraduate education at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, Sculpture Department in 2004. In 2007, she completed her master's degree at Marmara University Institute of Fine Arts, Sculpture Department and completed her Proficiency in Art program in the same department. She continues her academic studies at ITU Fine Arts Department. The artist, who continues her academic and artistic work in Istanbul, has participated in national and international exhibitions and has taken part in various events and symposiums. Sözeri has also published articles and received awards. In her artistic production, she first determines the conceptual framework through the context of the works and the boundaries of this conceptual framework are built on politics, everyday life, individual and social relations in everyday life, politics, system and transparency. Her academic studies include Architecture, City and Sculpture. Her master's thesis is titled “Sculptural Forms in Architecture from the 1970s to the Present”. It focuses on the intersections and interactions of architecture and sculpture disciplines from an artistic perspective. Her proficiency in art is on “Sculptural Practices that Invert Perception in Contemporary Art”. Meliha Sözeri, who opened her first solo exhibition at Bozlu Art Project Nişantaşı Gallery in 2018, uses wire material, which is dominant in her recent works, to create sculptures that we encounter in daily life with the wire material that dominates her recent works.The transparent perforated wire material in the artist's sculptures wraps the void like a lace with all its laboriousness, elegance and transparency.Questioning conceptual relationships through material and form, the artist continues her works in her studio in Istanbul.
