In our 417th art meeting, we continue to visit the artists in the Historical Tokatlıyan Han. Tokatlıyan Han is perhaps one of the places we have heard of the most with the foundation selections. The building belonging to the Three Horan Armenian Church is one of the most famous buildings of its time, which has managed to remain on the agenda from the past to the present. The story of Tokatlıyan begins with Mıgırdıç Tokatlıyan, who immigrated to Istanbul from Tokat and worked as a restaurateur in the Grand Bazaar. On June 5, 1870, a fire broke out in Beyoğlu and many buildings, including the Oriental Theater owned by the Three Horan Armenian Church, were damaged and destroyed. The church administration established a commission to repair and rebuild the properties damaged by the fire. The commission attempted to rebuild the theater building in place of the burned theater to generate income for the church, and under the leadership of Architect Hovsep Aznavur, it was completed in a short period of six months and opened in 1883 with a magnificent ball.
