In our 416th art meeting, we visit the Historical Tokatlıyan Han. In 2022, first artist Gülhan, then photographer Aramis Kalay, painter Resul Aytemür and then artists who started to open workshops in Tokatlıyan Han, completely independent and unaware of each other, started to create an art center. Currently, on the second floor of Tokatlıyan Han, artists Resul Aytemur (Painter), Aramis Kalay (Photography Artist), Gülhan (Art Worker), Serap İskender (Painter), Sonat Çavuşoğlu (Sculptor), Joel Menemşe (Painter), Songül Canerik (Painter), Ahmet Merey (Painter and Collector) Nihal Mavigök Sungur (Painter), Özge Akdeniz (Painter), Semra Çelik (Painter), Beyza Gökay (Painter), Belgin Şahin (Ceramic Artist), Demet Yalçınkaya (Painter), Zeliha Demirel (Painter), Aylin Pakova (Architect - Ceramic Artist), Sibel Tarhan Kasapoğlu (Painter), Vasıf Pehlivanoğlu (Painter), Ataman Oğuz (Painter), Curator-Independent Researcher Eda Yiğit and Masis Kürkçügil (Writer). The International Association of Art Critics (AICA) is also located on the second floor.
The human relations between the workshops are enviable. The atmosphere here also reminds us of the artist friendships that once existed in Narmanlı Han. Many writers and artists, including Aliye Berger, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu and Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, lived and worked in the building that was once known as Narmanlı Dormitory. Group D, founded by five painters, held its first exhibition in 1933 at the Mimoza hat shop under Narmanlı Dormitory. Yes, exhibitions are also planned to be held at Tokatlıyan Han.
