Art Meeting 413

n our 413th art meeting, we visit the workshop of Sculptor Bahadır Çolak. Born in 1983 in Istanbul, Bahadır Colak graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture. Afterwards, he worked on public space sculptures in Pietrasanta, Italy for more than 3 years. While shaping the use of traditional materials with contemporary art practices, the artist, who produces sculptures in which the viewer will personally participate and question with his gaze, also uses the language of psychoanalysis and mythology in his works. Preferring to use electronic and mechanical elements as well as traditional materials in his sculptures, Çolak constructs a sculpture-system relationship. Bahadır Çolak's sculptures suggest that we should always keep in mind that information and image can be manipulated, and they take us around the borders of the contradiction between what is seen and what is real.

The artist, who has participated in numerous exhibitions and fairs in Turkey and abroad, also has large-scale public space sculptures and continues his works in Istanbul.
