403. “We visit artist Adem Genç at our art meeting. Born in 1944 in Rize, the artist retired from Dokuz Eylül University in 1999 and is currently (2021) working at Altınbaş University. Adem Genç realized many solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. His works are included in the collections of Deutsche Bank, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha,[2] Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey and Ministry of Culture State Painting and Sculpture.
“...I think I want to question 'modernity' in art or the practice of avant-garde modernization from the point of view of a theory that to some extent incorporates 'bedii'/aesthetics and 'Counter-Art' pragmatism. In this context, I trust my own intuition and believe that art criticism is a sophisticated process of liberation of the mind. Therefore, I personally agree with the content analyses and evaluations made about my paintings in terms of the emphasis on this Sufi sensibility or the expression of this feeling, together with the forms of perception that dominate the basic codes and hierarchy of universal culture”
